Assistant Principal, ES

Patty Settel (pronounced: suh-tell) is excited about her new role as Fort Hunt’s Assistant Principal. She is originally from Japan but came to FCPS in 5th grade and is an alumnus of Justice HS.

Ms. Settel has spent 30+ years in FCPS as a classroom teacher and an Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART).  She was most recently at Beech Tree ES as their AART and served in the role as their Acting Assistant Principal. She is happy to be back in Region 3, having worked at Rose Hill ES, Lorton Station ES, Groveton ES and Waynewood ES.

Ms. Settel believes in student engagement, student centered learning, and strong community relationships.  She especially values collaboration and communication with all stakeholders and seeks to build personal connections with teachers and staff.  Ms. Settel holds a Master of Arts degree in New Professional Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, both from George Mason University.  Her Virginia teaching licensure includes several endorsements including ESOL, Gifted Education K-12, Early Education NK-4, and Administration and Supervision.
