English Language Arts Outcomes

Goal: 

By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the percent of students reading by third grade will increase by 5 percentage points (from 71% to 76%) as measured by pass rate on the third grade reading SOL.

Strategy 1

Leverage use of daily, explicit language comprehension lessons from the new core curriculum for building knowledge and vocabulary.

Strategy 2

Use embedded formative assessments in the new core curriculum to guide tier 1 and tier 2 instructional decisions.

Strategy 3

Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole group instruction and intentional small group instruction focused on specific student needs. 

Math Outcomes

Goal: 

By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the percent of black students passing the Math SOL will increase by 9 percentage points (from 56% to 65%).

Strategy 1

Increase teachers' content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.

Strategy 2

Increase students' self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics.

 

Science Outcomes

Goal: By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the percent of students passing the Grade 5 Science SOL will increase by 9 percentage points (from 61.7% to 70%).

Strategy 1

Increase content and/or pedagogy knowledge in science for all teachers (advanced, general, ESOL, special education).
