Spanish Immersion at Fort Hunt
At Fort Hunt, students are selected through a countywide lottery to participate in the Spanish immersion program. Students in the program spend half of their day learning in the target language (Spanish) in the content areas of math, science, and health. The other half of their day is spent learning language arts and social studies in English. Immersion teachers and language arts teachers collaborate to ensure students are receiving the entire grade level curriculum across subject areas.

Learn about the registration process
In our program, students are taught for half of the school day in English and the other in Spanish. The student will have two teachers and will learn mathematics, science, and health in Spanish. Another teacher will instruct language arts and social studies in English.
The curriculum follows the Fairfax County Public School Study Program which means that your children will learn the same lessons that are given in the various schools in Fairfax County.
Seats in the Kindergarten and First Grade Immersion Program are filled by a lottery process (Regulation 3312).
- January - Online lottery registration opened for Kindergarten and First grade.
- February - First grade lottery closes
- March - Kindergarten lottery closes

To apply for the lottery, you will need:
- Have your student registered at their base school
- A personal email account
- A SIS parent account (If you do not have a SIS parent account, call Fort Hunt ES office at 703-619-2600)
- To apply to the immersion lottery online using your SIS parent account credentials at https://www.fcps.edu/registration/world-language-immersion-programs-registration
Notification of lottery outcome will be emailed around the beginning of April.
