Fort Hunt Celebrates Veterans' Day

Highlights of Veteran's day included:

  • The beautiful morning kicked off with a coffee and donuts welcome for the guest veteran's in the school courtyard. 
  •  A special assembly was held in front of the school. Students, staff, and families planted United States Flags around the perimeter of the school. 
  • The event was attended by local veterans, some of whom were parents or relatives of the students. 
  • The assembly began with the a welcome from Fort Hunt Principal, Jean Consolla.  Ms. Consolla led the students in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a highlights of why Veteran's Day is celebrated.
  • The school band and orchestra then performed patriotic songs.
  • Students then returned to their classes and then had the opportunity to listen to the veterans as they shared their personal stories and experiences in the armed forces. This provided a unique and tangible connection between the students and those who have served our country, helping them understand the significance of the day.  

Celebrating Veterans' Day at Fort Hunt Elementary School is not just an event; it's a meaningful tradition that underscores the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by our nation's heroes. It's a day that reminds us all that respect for our veterans is not confined to a single day but a value that should be upheld every day of the year.
